Who We Are

About Dhara Foundation
Dhara means “flow”—a stream of giving that connects nourishment, culture, and community welfare. Dhara Foundation is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to bringing people together through compassionate service, cultural learning, and community engagement.
Rooted in the spirit of seva, or selfless service, we seek to create meaningful opportunities for people to support one another, share their knowledge and talents, and contribute to the well-being of the broader community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen community well-being through nourishment, cultural preservation, educational opportunities, and volunteer service. We bring people together to address community needs, share artistic and cultural traditions, and build connections across generations and backgrounds.

Our Programs

Nourishment

Through our "Feeding hands" program, Dhara Foundation brings people together through food and compassionate service. Every month, our dedicated volunteers cook and serve meals to approximately 120 people at the Lowell Transitional Living Center.

Culture

We support the preservation and sharing of classical music, dance, and cultural heritage through workshops, performances, classes, and community events. These activities provide opportunities for learning, artistic expression, and intergenerational connection.

Service

We create opportunities for volunteers to contribute their time and skills through initiatives like our "Caring hearts" program. Through this initiative, our volunteers source and deliver essential groceries to cancer-impacted families, often supporting those receiving care through networks like Lowell General Hospital. Our work directly supports vulnerable families in our community during difficult times and encourages participation in impactful volunteerism.

Who We Serve

Dhara Foundation serves residents and vulnerable populations in the greater community. Our charitable activities are intended to benefit the broader community, not solely our donors, volunteers, or organizational members.
Participation in our community programs does not require a donation, membership, or adherence to a particular religious belief.

Inclusion and Nondiscrimination

Dhara Foundation is committed to treating people with dignity and respect and providing an inclusive environment for its programs, services, employment, and volunteer activities.
We do not discriminate in hiring, compensation, promotion, termination, retirement, training, programs, activities, or services on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, political affiliation, union membership, or veteran status.

Join Seva

We invite parents, youth, and community partners to celebrate our heritage. Help us keep traditions alive through action, awareness, and dedicated support for our holistic welfare programs.
